“Youth workers also need to be seen as valued and significant contributors to the healthy development of young people.”
- Annie Smith, Youth as Resources
Valuing Youth Work Professionals
Celebrating, Valuing and Appreciating youth professionals is an important part of sustaining and retaining the very best youth workers for our youth. This Navigator team dreams of a Youth Worker Day celebrated in the state’s capital, followed by a Youth Worker Month which allows youth workers across the state to:
•
recognize themselves as part of a larger body of youth workers with similar ideals, and
•
be recognized and supported for those efforts in a meaningful way
To that end, the team is:
•
groups of youth workers and assist in disseminating message and support;
•
creating a toolkit which will help youth organizations meaningfully support youth workers without asking them to 'throw their own party; and
•
working to use the power of story to promote, affirm, and inspire people through a media project which highlights youth workers and their agencies.
